Kunstplatz Graben, Vienna
Produced by KÖR – Kunst im öffentlichen Raum Wien
For her public installation at the Graben in Vienna, Marinella Senatore expands her ongoing Protest Forms series with five large-scale, double-sided textile banners suspended on color-coated steel masts. Rotating freely in the wind, the banners draw from the visual language of religious processions and labor movements, combining embroidery, appliqué, and layered collage techniques. Each banner functions as a modular visual surface, integrating textile craftsmanship with social narratives. The work was developed in close collaboration with local women’s groups – Schwarze Frauen Community and Piramidops – who responded to an open call by contributing phrases and reflections on the concept of community strength.
